Whitecaps & LMCU Ballpark Are Thriving

The West Michigan Whitecaps minor league baseball team was established in 1994 as an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. Playing out of the LMCU Ballpark in Grand Rapids Michigan, it is one of the few stadiums owned by its occupying ball club. A cornerstone of the West Michigan community, the ballpark hosts hundreds of events each year, including Whitecaps games, commencement ceremonies, nonprofit fundraisers, and more.

Fast forward to 2020. Covid strikes. Due to the pandemic, the LMCU Ballpark is forced to temporarily close and MiLB games cease. The US Government issues PPP relief, but public venue restrictions continue and the pandemic drones on, far longer than anyone anticipated. Finally, in 2022, baseball returns.

But how did the venue and the ball club fair? Listen as Joe Chamberlin, West Michigan Whitecaps CEO, shares what they did to survive and thrive post pandemic. You won't want to miss this opportunity to get an inside look at the current state of the restaurant and entertainment industry as a whole.
